Ironman 70.3

The IRONMAN 70.3 Sunshine Coast has hit our shores once again on Sunday, 8 September 2024.

This prestigious event attracts athletes from around the world, each ready to tackle the demanding course that includes a 1.9 km ocean swim, a 90 km bike ride along the Sunshine Motorway, and a 21.1 km run along our beautiful beachfront. But this event is more than just a race—it’s a showcase of endurance, community spirit, and the vibrant atmosphere that makes the Sunshine Coast so special.

Whether you're a seasoned triathlon enthusiast or new to the sport, this year’s event promises thrilling action and inspiring stories. Don’t miss the chance to be part of this extraordinary day in Mooloolaba! We’re especially proud to cheer on one of our own from Whisker Coastal Property—Kieran Bergs—who will be competing in this year’s race.

"I initially started competitive swimming just to avoid getting beaten so badly at school swim carnivals. But as I improved, I set higher goals for myself. After a couple of years, I aimed to qualify for the Queensland state championships. Later, it was the Australian national championships.

The swimming journey has taught me valuable principles of physical health and fitness, along with the discipline to implement them. It’s also instilled in me values like persistence, consistency, and goal-setting.

While the fastest races weren’t always mine, the highlight of my journey would have to be winning gold at the School State Championships and then silver at the School National Championships in my final year of school. Considering I was too slow to qualify for districts in my first year, this achievement showed me the true reward of hard work and consistency."

Kieran’s story is a reminder of what can be achieved with dedication and perseverance. We’ll be cheering him on every step of the way!

The IRONMAN 70.3 Sunshine Coast is more than just a race—it’s a day to celebrate the strength of the human spirit, the beauty of our community, and the inspiring athletes who push their limits to achieve greatness.

Kieran swam 1.9km in 32 minutes, and the team finished 7 overall. We are very proud of him and can’t wait to see another event in our Mooloolaba community!
